Most of the folks who didn’t know that I was skipping town this Christmas were surprised to find out I was miles and miles away from the parties and drunken sessions. Sorry for missing out on all the fun, I hope you all had a blast! Thanks for the invites… really felt bad I couldn’t make it but I do hope you all had a good time.
So far, my vacation has been going really well. The last two weeks prior to my flight back here was packed with last minute work errands plus the fact that I got sick. My vacation officially started on the 22nd. Ever since I arrived here, I had been busy playing with the kids and making up for the sleep I had fallen short of over the pre-xmas rush.
We drove all the way to Iligan on the day before xmas and stayed there until the 26th. I drove the pickup and my brother took the car (daya, he knew it was faster!!!). But it was manageable. I beat the 1.5 hr margin so it wasn’t so bad. I just felt sleepy coz it was too slow!hahaha! I was sooo tired when we got there but lunch was a relief. I ate all the food I missed – including the lechon!
Traffic. Talk about traffic, traffic in binondo and divisoria is a whoooole lot better than the traffic I experienced when I offered to drive the girls around the city. People were panic-buying and the jeepneys and cars were moving too close to each other… I’d bet the distance between the car and the jeep i was tailing was like less than a quarter of a foot. but I’m glad I didn’t bump into anyone…or anything for that matter.
We didn’t get to go around the usual swimming places on xmas day because everyone was sooo wasted after downing 2 bottles of tequila after noche buena. the oldies decided to just stay home and chill – the boys played pusoy while the girls made the usual “catching up chat” and of course, the younger generation (that includes me!) went out for a drive around the city – this time with the driver!!!
(good thing I didn’t have to drive!)
Night time was, as usual, drinking and videoke time.
took out the magic sing and sang to our heart’s content! The next day, it was bye bye time for us… I took the lead in the convoy and managed to get to cdo by lunch time.
On the 27th, I spent the whole morning sleeping ( i was tired from driving). In the afternoon, I went to meet up with old friends in limketkai…and (don’t laugh just yet!) I got lost on my way to the mall! hahaha! talk about driving and not reading the signs, I almost got caught! LOL… Good thing ate mines decided to just use her car going to SM… so we passed by the house and I left the car home. Otherwise, I would have been lost haha! Not that I don’t know the streets anymore, but with all the traffic rerouting and new “one way streets” I have no clue where to pass!
Today, I finally spent the last batch of shopping for the kids. I haven’t bought them any presents because I’ve been tooo damn busy before I flew in. Luckily there’s TOY KINGDOM here… Kids are really KIDS. They love toys and they always expect xmas presents… so when they found out I didn’t get the chance to buy them any, they were quite disappointed. I made up for it today by going shopping. Hopefully, they’ll like the presents they will be opening come new year’s eve.
