Car Insurance

Come July, this will be the first year I will ever pay for a very expensive piece of paper – my car insurance. I’ve been trying to understand the whole deal about vehicle insurance, policy coverage and the likes. It was quite difficult to find information on Philippine car insurance policies. However, my research taught me a thing or two about car insurance in the US.

I found a really great resource on the net that shares valuable information about American Car Insurance companies, excellent deals and ways to save up on your car insurance premiums. The good thing about American Car Quotes is that by filling out a single form, the company will be sending your information to its selected insurers to assess and send you quotes directly to your inbox, without having to call the insurance companies one by one. Not to worry about getting SPAM, they do have a system to only filter the companies that match your needs.

The site also shares good amount of information for Liability Insurance. The purpose of a liability insurance is simply to ensure that all drivers are adequately covered in the event that an accident shall occur. Other types of insurance add-ons are also featured in the site like collision coverage, labor and towing coverage.

I wish I could find the same amount of depth in Philippine Car Insurance companies when showcasing their packages.

Expenses that go with owning a car

Eversince I got my car back from Terence’s Body Build and Paint shop, it has been a series of expenses starting from the tint job, tune up, spark plugs replacement, small fixes here and there. Until finally I had it in good running condition. Total Damage = P25k. I saved about 10-15k total from the repairs, thanks to Terence!!!Until last Wednesday night when the car won’t start and I was 4 floors down the building in my lonesome! Luckily, I have an officemate who helped me fix some loose connections. I plan to go to Evangelista or Pasay one of these days to have it checked and replace the headlights. Estimated expense = P3k.My next goal is to have my car buffed or detailed. Estimated cost = P2k.And finally, renewal is up in the next couple of months. I hope it will go through in a breeze, but knowing government offices here, I highly doubt it. Car registrations is such a tiring process in Manila. Estimated cost plus insurance = P5kI’m also toying with the idea of getting me one of those special private plates to avoid the color coding, but I’m still thinking about it. I’ve been visiting this online site where you can transact car registrations and purchase one of those vanity private plates. I wish we had one of these in the Philippines. The site is so easy to navigate and anyone who is not computer savvy could easily find their way around the site, to get what they need. I checked for my name RHEA and I could only wish I could by the R777 HEA plate. :-) Isn’t it so cute?!?

Crazy

I had a pretty tight schedule today. Barely had the chance to visit the rest room for a quick break. One downside of bringing a car to work is that I have to wake up early each time so I can beat the rush hour traffic. Gosh, I hate traffic so much. Today, I had a bad experience. I was rushing home after a long tiring day of meetings. When I was just about to start the engine. IT WON’T START!!! What the fuck?!? I panicked!!!! I just left it alone for 12 hrs in the basement parking and now it’s giving me an attitude! what the hell! :-( oh well. thanks to bryan for saving my life!
